- Work environment for players in the sustainable fashion industry
- Circular business model: pay per use
- Sustainable combination of new and used office furniture
The new work environment of Fashion for Good is designed according to Ahrend’s circular business model, which is based on usage instead of ownership. The organisation, with C&A Foundation as the founding partner, strives for a total sustainable fashion industry. The innovative approach of Ahrend perfectly fits the initiative that has been realised in the centre of Amsterdam. The office is fully circular designed by the leading architectural firm Gensler, in cooperation with Ahrend and officially opened its doors on March 30, 2017.
Fashion for Good invites the global fashion industry to reimagine how fashion is designed, made, worn and reused. The programs of Fashion for Good support promising initiatives with for instance funding and knowledge sharing. One of the programs is the Early-stage Innovation Accelerator. In this program, Plug and Play (a leading Silicon Valley accelerator) provides start-ups with advice and support to successfully enter the market.
Pay per use
For the design of the work environment, Fashion for Good has chosen a sustainable approach. A circular business model is the starting point: Not ownership but the use of furniture is the main focus. Fashion for Good purchases according to a pay-per-use model, in which Ahrend still owns the furniture. This provides a significant sustainable advantage. Because of the high quality standard of the Ahrend products, the furniture can be reused over and over again.
The sustainable approach has also resulted in reuse of furniture. Furniture from the former V&D department store chain headquarters, such as the Ahrend Loungescape soft seating setup and Ahrend Aero tables, have found a new home in the office of Fashion for Good.
Cradle to cradle
All new placed products are Cradle to Cradle Certified. As the first and only Cradle to Cradle certified company in the branch, Ahrend has provided Ahrend 2020 office chairs and Ahrend Balance sit/stand-workstations. These products are modular and circularly designed and made of fair materials. This makes it possible to reuse and separate all loose parts.
